What is SweetHands?
SweetHands is the first innovative hockey skills training aid which will:
1.Increase your stickhandling speed and timing.
2.Improve eye and stick coordination.
These 2 important aspect, enable players to achieve better puck control and feel.
How does SweetHands work?
Our revolutionary hockey training product, and best-seller, SweetHands, takes the guess-work out of how to get young hockey players to execute proper stickhandling techniques. SweetHands was developed because using pucks or cones on the ice does NOT teach proper stickhandling. Using cones or pucks just teaches a player to push the puck around when skating.
•By maneuvering the puck or ball in and out of SweetHands forces the player to lift their stick up and over the connecting arm and regaining control of the puck or ball.
•Lifting your stick up and over the connecting arm, you're delayed in recovering the puck or ball. This delay will force you to roll the wrist of your controlling hand, or top hand, to recover the puck or ball.
•The rolling of the wrist is critical to the improvement of all stickhandling skills.
•Stickhandling is a skill that is never perfected and must be constantly practiced, even at the college and professional levels
•After technically mastering each individual skill, the player will advance to higher speed movement drills, as well as partner passing, utilizing forehand, backhand and saucer passing.
Why does it work?
•The key to mastering any hockey skill is proper technique and repetition - repetition - repetition.
•A player can see their improvement by the efficiency of doing SweetHands. The less time it takes to go forward and backwards thru the SweetHands without a mistake is a testimonial to their improvement.
Where do you use it?
•SweetHands is a dual purpose hockey training aid and can be used equally well in both on-ice and off-ice settings. (Only product on the market that has SPIKES for ice usage....creates better stability on the ice)
•Stickhandling Balls are perfect when using SweetHands in the garage or driveway. Every practice on ice or dryland should have a station with SweetHands!
SweetHands Passing Trainer Review

Sweethands Overview
Price – $64.95 for the Mini Sweethands, $109.95 for the basic model (on HockeyShot.ca), and $30 extra for the deluxe. The difference between the two is the quality of the plastic used. If you are a hockey coach and want to use the trainer on a regular basis you should get the deluxe version. If you just want to use the Sweethands the odd time then you should get the regular version.
Purpose – The Sweethands is a very simple concept, think of it as a sooped up line of hockey pucks. A good way for hockey players to practice moving the puck around obstacles is to line up a row of pucks and stickhandle through them. The only problems is that every time you hit a puck you will have to set the row of pucks up again. The Sweethands solves that problem by providing a number of “posts” that are all connected with an easy snap-on connection.
The purpose of the Sweethands is to challenge hockey players when they are stickhandling. With this device you can practice stickhandling around obstacles, over obstacles, and under obstacles. This constant challenge will encourage hockey players to work on the accuracy of their moves. This can be an advantage on the ice when a hockey player needs to feed a pass through a players skates, or stickhandle the puck through tight quarters or under a players stick.
What you get – The Sweethands comes in eight pieces, there are two starter pieces and six extension pieces. If you use one starter piece and all the extention pieces you will have an 8 foot long area for stickhandling. You can also use two starter pieces and 3 extension pieces on each to have 2 four foot long sections.
Assembly – It is very easy to assemble the Sweethands, all you have to do is fit the tongue of an extension piece into the groove of a starter pieces and fold it down to lock it into place. You can then follow the same process to add on as many extensions as you would like.
Taking the Sweethands to the Streets
First Look – The SweetHands looks very durable, we got the basic model that was $109.95 and it looks like it will hold up for quite a while. The pieces are a bit bulky but I can’t really see a way to make this product without having the bulky pieces. The pieces fit together great and we were able to set up one 8 foot section and the two 4 foot sections without any problems.
Testing Out the Product - The concept of this product is so simple that it wasn’t hard to test. We tested it on pavement, and a hockey shooting board. On the shooting pad we used a hockey puck, and on pavement we used a Green Biscuit and a Stickhandling Ball.
The Sweethands worked exactly how it is supposed to, pucks and stickhandling balls work great and slide under the Sweethands with ease. I practiced moving the puck under each section, then took some time to see how fast I could perform the same tasks. I practiced using my forehand and backhand, toe drags and a few fancy moves like flipping the puck over the Sweehands on the forehand and backhand.
Overall Thoughts
Penalty Box
The only slight downfall to the Sweethands is that it is a bit bulky, with all the pieces taken apart it can be a bit awkward to move around. My recommendation is to use a large recyclable grocery bag.
Scoresheet
- Works well
- Easy to assemble and disassemble

The Sweethands is a simple training device that will challenge hockey players to use their imagination and practice various moves that they will need to use on the ice.
